Mole removal
Mole removal is performed for both cosmetic concerns and medical necessity, such as when a mole shows signs of being atypical or potentially cancerous. Common removal techniques include surgical excision (cutting the mole out and stitching the skin closed) or shave excision (shaving the mole off the surface). The procedure is generally quick and performed under local anesthesia. Any removed mole is typically sent for biopsy to confirm it is benign or to identify any malignancy early.
